Christopher Archambeault, MS, ATC, LAT

Associate Athletic Trainer
Chris Archambeault joined the KSU Sports Medicine staff in 2007, after serving as an assistant athletic trainer for Davidson College in North Carolina. Prior to his appointment at Davidson, he served as a Graduate Assistant athletic trainer for the Lovett School in Atlanta.

Chris has served as the team athletic trainer for both Women’s Soccer and Baseball, and began serving as the athletic department's drug testing coordinator in 2010, while also coordinating the rehabilitation program for Kennesaw State student-athletes. In addition, he oversees the medical coverage of the softball team, supervises the Bailey Complex athletic training room and acts as the A-Sun Women’s Soccer Tournament medical director, when KSU is awarded the tournament. In December, 2011, he will serve as the Medical Director for the NCAA Women's College Cup when it is held at KSU Soccer Stadium.

Archambeault holds a Master's degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University and received his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from High Point University in North Carolina. He is also Graston certified. While pursuing his education, Chris attained additional experience while working as an athletic trainer for the Atlanta Xplosion Women's Professional Football team, USA Taekwondo and the Georgia Tech Lacrosse Club.

Chris is a native of Buffalo, N.Y., and is an avid ice hockey player and referee. He resides in nearby Acworth.

Yesi Combs
Yesenia Combs, MA, ATC, LAT, LPN

Associate Athletic Trainer
Yesy (formerly Ochoa) Combs joined the KSU Sports Medicine staff in 2007, after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the University of South Florida. Prior to attending graduate school, she worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer for Maclay High School in Tallahassee, Fla.

Since the 2008-09 season, Yesy has served as the team athletic trainer for Women’s Basketball and the supervising athletic trainer for both Track & Field/Cross Country teams. During her first year at KSU, she was also the tennis athletic trainer. In addition to her current team responsibilities, she serves as our insurance coordinator and student worker supervisor.

Ochoa holds a Master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of South Florida and received her Bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from Florida State University. While pursuing her sports medicine education, Yesy worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a variety of settings. Her nursing skills bring an added element to the KSU Sports Medicine staff.

Yesy is a native of Miami, Fla. and she currently resides with her husband, Marcus, in Acworth, Ga.

Lisa Schulte
Lisa Schulte, ATC/LAT

Assistant Athletic Trainer


Lisa arrived at Kennesaw State in the fall of 2011.  After serving two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Dayton, Lisa was hired by the Flyers in 2010 as a full-time athletic trainer for women's soccer, cheerleading, cross country, and track and field. Lisa obtained her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Urbana University.

Now with the Owls, Lisa currently works with volleyball and softball and helps to oversee track and field.

Lisa is a native of Pandora, Ohio and currently resides in Atlanta, Ga. with her fiance.

Courtney Silvera
Courtney Silvera, ATC
Assistant Athletic Trainer

Courtney Silvera joined the KSU Sports Medicine team in the summer 2011, after serving as a Graduate Intern and Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of North Florida.

While at North Florida, Courtney served as the Athletic Trainer for Women’s Soccer, Softball, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, and Men’s and Women’s Track and Field. Courtney Comes to KSU to oversee the Men’s Basketball team and assist with Women’s Soccer in the spring.

In addition to her experience working with collegiate athletes, Silvera also has extensive with high school athletics, having worked on the athletic training staff for the last two summers at the Sunshine State Games in Florida.

Courtney holds a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of North Florida and received her Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from the University of Florida in Gainesville. 

Courtney is a native of Orlando, Fla. She currently resides in Kennesaw.

Dr. Stan Dysart
Team Physician
Dr. Dysart joined the KSU sports medicine team, as team physician, in December of 2003. He is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with Pinnacle Orthopedics in Marietta and Woodstock. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia. In addition to his medical training, he obtained an MBA from KSU.

Along with his work in the athletic department, Dr. Dysart serves on the KSU Board of Trustees. His dual role has been important to the growth of our athletic and sports medicine programs. Sports Medicine has become a focus of his practice and is evident in his volunteerism, as he has served as the medical director of the Georgia Games Championships since 2004. He became the team physician for the Atlanta Women’s Professional Soccer team, the Atlanta Beat, this year.

Dr. Dysart is very committed to the education of medical professionals. He has traveled all over the world to give medical presentations. He also serves as a mentor to medical students and provides consultations across the country. Dr. Dysart also believes in giving back to the less fortunate and has traveled abroad on numerous medical missions.

Dr. Dysart's commitment to the success of the KSU athletes has been a personal mission of his. He has been a tremendous resource and mentor for our staff. He holds a weekly orthopedic clinic, in the KSU athletic training room. He is excited to lend his time and talents to our program and we are excited to have his expertise in our arsenal.

 
Dr. Jessica Bilotta
Team Physician

Jessica Christine Bilotta, M.D. began working with Kennesaw State Athletics in 2011. Her primary practice is located at Pinnacle Orthopedics in Marietta, Ga., adjacent to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. She sees patients in the Marietta and Woodstock locations.


Dr. Bilotta is a Board Eligible Orthopaedic Surgeon and is Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine. Her specialites include general orthopaedics and sports medicine.

Dr. Bilotta graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in chemistry. She received her Medical Degree from the Medical College of Georgia, where she graduated with honors. She completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

Dr. Bilotta has achieved many academic honors and accomplishments. She has also written several medical publications and participated in medical research while serving in the surgical research department at the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Bilotta is married and currently lives with her husband in Marietta. In her free time she enjoys intramural sports, exercising, and playing the piano.
Dr. Keith Rau
Team Chiropractor
Dr. Rau has served as the team chiropractor for KSU since 2002. He is an associate professor in the Sport Health Science department at Life University and maintains a private practice in Marietta.

Dr. Rau graduated from Life Chiropractic College in 1982 and joined the faculty in 1994. Teams that he has served, at KSU and Life, have won over 25 national championships, along with generating many All-Americans. He also served as a team chiropractor for the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League during their first two years in Atlanta. He has taught extremity adjusting and the integration of chiropractic into the care of athletes to chiropractors, athletic trainers and coaches from around the world.

By bringing his sports chiropractic expertise to KSU, he has added a rare element to our sports medicine program, which has benefited our student-athletes tremendously. He holds chiropractic clinics, in the KSU athletic training room, every week. Dr. Rau's volunteerism has been crucial to the success of some of our student-athletes. He is not only a great caregiver, but he has been a tremendous Owl fan.


Dr. Mark Brown
Concussion Consultant
Dr. Brown is a newcomer to the KSU Sports Medicine team. With the addition of concussion baseline testing and our new concussion care policy, KSU sports medicine needed consultation from an expert in the area of concussions. With his recent credentialing as an ImPACT consultant, Dr. Brown is the perfect fit for our needs.

Dr. Brown is a graduate of Ohio State University for both his undergraduate and medical degrees. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatrics. His pediatric career has led him to his current position as a pediatric emergency room physician at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

His experiences in the ER drove his interest in concussions, especially in young athletes. He completed his credentialing program with ImPACT this past August. The ImPACT concussion program provides neurocognitive testing in both a baseline and follow-up manner. This neurocognitive testing and Dr. Brown’s assessment and analysis allow us to properly assess, treat and make appropriate decisions about our student-athletes’ ability to safely return to play.


Dr. Kenneth Kligman
Team Dentist
Dr. Kligman has been the KSU team dentist for 25 years. Dr. Kligman is a 1977 graduate of Emory University and a 1981 graduate of Emory University’s School of Dentistry. Following graduation, Dr. Kligman stayed in the greater Atlanta area and opened a private family dentistry practice, Dentistry of Olde Towne, in Woodstock.

Every fall, he donates his time and resources to make custom mouthguards for our student-athletes. He and his partner, Dr. Chris Rautenstrauch, also handle dental emergencies on an "on-call" basis. Dr. Kligman's commitment to KSU Athletics has been tremendous, as a medical professional and as a booster.

Dr. Greg Matechak
Primary Care Physician
Dr. Matechak joined the KSU Sports Medicine team in 2007. He is a primary care physician with experience and a great interest in sports medicine. In addition to his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, he has degrees in aerospace engineering from Auburn and the University of Illinois.

Following years of work as an aerospace engineer with Lockheed-Martin and Boeing, he returned to college to pursue a career in medicine. He attended classes at KSU for medical pre-requisites. Currently, he is a practicing physician with Wellstar and his own private practice, Kennesaw Mountain Medical Group.

We are excited to have a primary care physician on the KSU sports medicine team. He will be able to address the general medical issues of our student athletes, as well as non-surgical sports medicine issues.

Dr. Matechak assists with Sickle Cell trait education, provides clinics in the KSU athletic training room and has provided medical coverage for our premier soccer events.


 
WellStar Cardiovascular Medicine
Cardiology Consultants

WellStar Cardiovascular Medicine joined our sports medicine team in 2011. They are a group of board certified cardiologists in Marietta. During our pre-participation physical exams, they review our student-athletes' EKG's and determine if further studies are needed. They have also implemented a baseline echocardiogram program for our student-athletes. They bring the echocardiogram machine, a technician and a cardiologist to KSU and do baseline echocardiograms on all of our new student-athletes during our annual pre-participation physical exams. Having them volunteer for our physicals and for consultation is crucial element to our comprehensive physicals and program in general.  We are on the cutting edge of pre-participation cardiac screenings and have potentially saved at least two lives as a result of the generosity of our cardiologists over the years.

Terry Trundle, PTA, ATC, LAT
Rehabilitation Consultant
Terry Trundle serves as our rehabilitation consultant. He is a private contractor who works within physical therapy practices in Acworth and Woodstock. With dual credentials as an athletic trainer and physical therapy assistant, he works very effectively with our student-athletes who undergo extensive rehabilitation.

In addition to his work in the PT clinics, Terry owns the Athletic Rehab Institute, an educational and athletic injury consultant company, which contracts athletic trainers out to local high schools and provides educational seminars across the country. Terry's rehabilitation programs are always on the cutting edge of research, because of the seminars that he presents year-round.


KSU Health Clinic
The KSU sports medicine team joined forces with the KSU Health Clinic in 2003. The KSU student-athletes undergo an extremely comprehensive pre-participation physical exam every year at the clinic. During the physical, the KSU ATC staff, the Health Clinic staff, the primary care physician, the orthopaedic surgeon and the cardiologist all participate in the exam.

Anne Nichols, a Nurse Practitioner, serves as the clinic director. She was instrumental in the development of our pre-participation physical program and has made a strong commitment to our student-athletes. The student-athletes receive excellent care for illnesses and various conditions, from the clinic staff throughout the year.
