KENNESAW, Ga. – Anabel Orozco continues her scoring outburst, netting an 89
th-minute equalizer as Kennesaw State soccer drew to in-state rival, West Georgia, 1-1.
The Owls had been peppering the Wolves all night, outshooting them 20-5, but UWG's goalkeeper stood tall, making 11 saves.
For Orozco, she's scored at least one goal in each of the last three contests, giving her nine points during that span. Fellow senior
Lara Kennedy picked up the assist on the equalizer.
Coach Chris Cahill's Remarks
"It was overall a gutsy performance tonight," Cahill said. "Unfortunately, we gave up an early chance and had to claw through the entire game to get even. We created a lot of opportunities and need to focus on capitalizing on those moments to gain the outcome we want."
First Half
UWG started the match with an early corner in the first few minutes. Rachel Higgins' initial shot off the set piece was saved, but she then scored off her own miss.
The Black and Gold weren't deterred, getting 10 attempts up during the rest of the half but couldn't find the back of the net. Defensively, they didn't allow a single shot after UWG's goal.
Second Half
The second half was more of the same as KSU dominated possession and shots, but UWG's Emily Sanabria stood firm in net, saving her first 11 shots faced.
As the game neared towards the final whistle, Orozco once again found the magic. Kennedy sent a lead pass down the left wing for Orozco. After receiving the ball, she cut inside and blasted a shot past Sanabria for the 89th-minute goal.

The Black and Gold will wrap up non-conference play on Thursday as they head down to Jacksonville to take on North Florida. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
