Montgomery, Ala.Kennesaw State women's soccer erupted for five goals in its win over Alabama State this Sunday afternoon. Julia Balchen and Lara Kennedy led the way, recording a brace each.

In addition to her two goals, Balchen tallied two assists to give her six points for the match. It's the most points recorded by an Owl in a single match since Macie Rainwater had six against Central Arkansas back on Oct. 29, 2021.

Melianne Berthe assisted Balchen's second goal for her first collegiate point.

Coach Chris Cahill's Remarks
"It was great to see so many players contribute today," Cahill said. "We created a lot of good moments by staying switched on and playing together. We were looking for a complete team performance after Thursday, and the focus was there to get the result today."

First Half
The Black and Gold put up two goals in the first 10 minutes of action. The first goal came off a corner kick. The ball was whipped inside the box, creating a scramble in front of the goal. Kennedy took advantage of the opportunity and put it in the back of the net.

Just five minutes later, Balchen pushed the ball up the field. She dumped it off to a wide-open Ava Bradford who went near post for the 2-0 advantage.

Second Half
The Owls scored quickly out of the second-half break. It was a reversal of the previous goal, with Bradford setting up Balchen for her first collegiate goal. After receiving the ball in the midfield, Bradford turned and led the ball down the right flank. Balchen played it, switched the ball to her left foot and went top bin for the score.

Ten minutes later, Kennedy scored her second goal of the afternoon. The senior took a rip from outside the 18-yard box and scored. Balchen quickly followed suit, scoring an absolute beauty from the right wing to make it 5-0.
