BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kennesaw State softball drops the first game of its weekend series to Western Kentucky, 13-5.
Five of the top six batters in KSU's lineup recorded a hit with Jojo Johnson tallying two in tonight's contest.
Hannah Harvey went yard for the second time in three games.
How It Happened
The hosts jumped out to a lead in the first inning. After the Owls recorded the first two outs of the frame, three-straight doubles gave WKU two runs. A solo shot in the second made it 3-0.
Both teams exploded for seven combined runs in the third. KSU tied the game off Harvey's two-run shot and an error by the Hilltoppers. The tied game was short-lived as WKU scored four in the bottom half of the inning.
The Owls responded once again in the fourth, cutting the deficit in half. Alora Bevily singled up the middle for an RBI and Macie Howes drew a bases-loaded walk.
WKU kept attacking, scoring six runs over the next three innings to enforce the run rule.
