BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kennesaw State softball falls in game two of their weekend series against Western Kentucky, 13-2.
Macie Howes recorded her 40
th RBI of the season, becoming the first Owl to achieve that feat since 2022.
Alora Bevily had a two-hit day while Ana Gore was responsible for the other RBI for the Black and Gold.
How It Happened
The scoring opened up in the third inning with the Owls hanging two in the top part of the frame. After Bevily and Hannah Harvey hit back-to-back singles, Howes went opposite field for the first run of the afternoon. Gore brought home Harvey off a sac fly.
WKU quickly responded in the bottom half. With two outs, the Hilltoppers reached base safely in the next three plate appearances. It culminated with a hit by Lauren Satterly that scored the initial two base runners and herself after the Owls committed an error. The hosts then exploded for 10 runs in the fourth.
Notes from the Diamond
- Macie Howes notched her 40th RBI of the season. She becomes the first Owl since Taylor Cates in 2022 to reach the 40-RBI plateau. The Louisville native is now one RBI shy from entering the top 10 in KSU's single-season RBI leaderboard during the DI era.
- Ana Gore tallied her fourth sacrifice fly in this afternoon's contest. She now ranks second among all CUSA players for the season.
- Alora Bevily tallied her 14th multi-hit game of the year, half of which have been in conference play.
