Owls Wrap Regular Season with Defeat of Gardner-Webb

KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State men's tennis celebrated Senior Day by bouncing back from a Friday loss to defeat Gardner-Webb 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Betty Siegel Courts.

The 2026 Owls have now tied the 2022 squad for the best record in program history at 15-6.

Departing senior Anthony Weingarten was honored before Saturday's match. Weingarten is set to graduate from KSU, having helped the team to over 50 match victories in four seasons, including 61 career wins of his own.

Despite a 6-2 doubles win on court one for Dominic Ducariu and Leon Peranovic, the Owls were unable to get over the hump on courts two and three, and allowed Gardner-Webb the doubles point.

Peranovic provided KSU with its response as he dispatched the Runnin' Bulldogs Noah Zeiger from court two in a 6-4, 6-3 win in the day's first singles result. Peranovic is now 11-6 on the season in singles, including 6-3 on line two.

Gardner-Webb briefly retook a 2-1 lead with a win on one, before KSU rolled away with the final four singles matches.

Nathan Walters earned his team-leading 15th win of the season in a 7-5, 6-3 win over Johan Van Wijk on court four. Xavi Ferrer extended his singles win streak to 10 matches with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Graham Bourne on six.

Erik Vladimirov moved to 6-0 on the season in a win on five. Vladimirov rallied from a 6-1 loss in the first set to overtake Kaua Cressoni 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 in sets two and three.

Ducariu tallied his 11th win of the season, and 10th on line four, with a 7-5, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2 defeat of Boyd Schreiber on court three.
