KENNESAW, Ga. —
Kyvan Rietkerk and
Leon Peranovic delivered a thrilling tie-break comeback win to seize the doubles point and help fuel No. 73 Kennesaw State men's tennis to a 5-2 victory over Lipscomb on Sunday afternoon at Betty Siegel Courts.
Rietkerk and Peranovic went to a tie-break in No. 1 doubles with control of the point hanging in the balance after an Owl win on court three and Bisons' win on two. KSU's court-one pairing mounted a furious comeback from an early 1-4 deficit to win the tie-break and the match 7-6 (7-4).
Ben Hudson and
Xavi Ferrer opened doubles play with a quick 6-2 win on court three. Ferrer took that momentum and quickly won No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1.
Peranovic and
Nathan Walters added two more straight-set victories to clinch the match for the Owls. Peranovic won court two 6-2, 6-2, while Walters took his fifth consecutive match in a 6-3, 7-5 decision on four.
Erik Vladimirov made his season debut for KSU and earned the team's fifth point of the day in a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 win on court five.
The Owls' Sunday match featured its annual epilepsy awareness day. KSU honored those afflicted with the disease by wearing specialty epilepsy-awareness purple uniforms.
