AUBURN, AL – The Kennesaw State soccer team fell to the Auburn Tigers on the road, 6-0.
Julia Balchen made her collegiate debut while Auburn's Erin Flurey scored four goals.
First Half
A common trend for the Owls this season has been the rain and today was no different. A heavy downpour began at kickoff but the teams played on.
After the skies cleared, the Tigers started rolling. Flurey scored her first goal 14 minutes in. Jordyn Crosby crossed the ball into the box and eventually found its way to Flurey.
Not even a minute later, Auburn scored its second goal. The original call on the field was ruled offside, but after the VAR review, the call was overturned.
The Owls were able to generate some offensive pressure midway through the first, getting a corner in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, they came up empty.
After an injury timeout, Auburn successfully built up play and Flurey secured the first-half hat trick.
Shelby Sallee shot a rocket off her left foot that sailed past the Owls for the 4-0 lead.
Second Half
Auburn came out firing to start the second half. In the 48th minute, the Tigers pushed the ball into the box. A misplay on the ball by the Owls found its way to Flurey, who buried her fourth goal of the afternoon.
Charlee Bernal punched the ball off a corner but a Tiger headed it for the 6-0 lead.
Some jostling off an Auburn corner resulted in Raelyn Prince being assessed a red card in the 64th minute.
