ATLANTA – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team fell to in-state rival Georgia State by a score of 4-0.
Captain
Mai Jensen made her first appearance for Owls this season, returning from the devasting injury she suffered last season. She logged 49
minutes in her first contest back.
Aubrey Diskin also made her collegiate debut.
First Half
The Panthers got on the board courtesy of an own goal.
Delaney Edwards was defending but the ball ricochetted off her body and went in.
GSU nearly went up two. Gabriela Gonzalez whipped a ball in off a corner, but the header was just high.
The Owls didn't get a shot off in the first 45 minutes, but their best chance came 18 minutes into the half. KSU successfully built-up play in the GSU's defensive third. A ball was sent into the box, but
Rebecca Womer was ruled offside when she touched it.
With five minutes left in the half, Jensen subbed in for the Owls. It was her first appearance in nearly a year after she suffered a season-ending injury against Florida (Sept. 12, 2024).
Second Half
The Panthers struck one minute into the second half. Gonzalez attempted a shot which
Charlee Bernal saved but Reese Gordon scored on the rebound.
GSU's Emily Glenn scored two goals in six minutes to make it 4-0. Her first goal came off a cross and her second was off a KSU giveaway deep in the Owls' defensive zone. The deficit would remain for the rest of the game.
