KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State soccer closes out its 2025 season with a 1-0 defeat to Middle Tennessee at home.

Coach Chris Cahill's Remarks:
"I'd like to thank all the fans and the support the team received this year," Cahill said. "As far as we traveled, it was always refreshing to see friendly faces and the support for these young women. I would also like to thank my assistants Dani & Wez, athletic trainer Quentin, Coach Woods, Matt Sanders, all three Ryan's, Dr. Billota and Dr. Lindsey for their commitment and time during this season to help produce an environment for this group to grow and build confidence in themselves as women."

First Half
Both teams were scoreless through the first 45 minutes despite multiple chances. The Blue Raiders registered a shot in the first 10 minutes that just missed the far side post.

KSU's best chance came in the 17th minute. Mackenzie Anuska found Brenna Young in the box who got foul on the aerial play. Rebecca Womer took the penalty kick and went center-left. The MTSU goalkeeper hard committed to that side and got her hand on the ball for the save.

The Owls received a corner off the save and attempted a subsequent shot but couldn't find the back of the net.

The Blue Raiders closed out the first half with two great looks. Yana Yordanova hit the right post on her shot.

Second Half
The match went from 11-on-11 to 10-on-10 in the 60th minute. Anabel Orozco committed a foul on Sadie Sterbenz. While on the ground, Sterbenz kicked Orozco and the Fayetteville, Ga. native retaliated. Both players were assessed red cards.

With the field opened up, MTSU broke the scoreless drought in the 71st minute. Charlee Bernal gave the ball away on a goal kick. Ximena Jauregui one-timed a pass to Taijah Fraser. Fraser turned and found Emma Pettersen on a run. The Norwegian slotted it past Bernal for the goal.

The Black and Gold couldn't equalize it and the whistle blew with a 1-0 defeat.
