CLEMSON, S.C. – Kennesaw State Volleyball kept it close in all three sets but were unable to make a closing run as the Owls fell to Furman 3-0 on Friday afternoon in Jervey Gym on the Clemson campus.
STAT OF THE GAME: Furman finished with six more kills and a .361 hitting percentage (44K-9E-97TA), while the Owls were at .220 (38K-16E-100TA) for the afternoon.
THE RUNDOWN – The Owls best play of the afternoon came right at the start, as
Manu Johnsen contributed three kills to help KSU out to a 10-3 edge. Furman bounced back with a 5-0 run though, and tied the game at 13-13. It would be tied five more ties, the last on a Johnsen kill to make it 20-20. The Paladins scored five of the final six points to close out the set and take a 1-0 lead. Set two saw Furman lead the entire time, going up 10-2 before the Owls closed with 15-13. A 6-1 spurt put Furman back up seven on the way to a 2-0 lead. The third set was by far the most competitive of the afternoon with a total of 17 ties. The Owls last lead came at 20-19 thanks to a
Maggie Byrd kill. Furman would close out the set and the match with a run of six consecutive kills for a 25-20 win.

-Johnsen's 16 kills led KSU, while
Kiernan Stamey was next with six.

Kaeley Walz posted a career-high 31 assists and added 12 digs for her first career double-double. The 12 digs were also a team-high.
