ATLANTA – The Owls (13-30) sixth inning rally was not enough to overcome the Panthers (11-32) Wednesday night with a 4-3 final on the road.
Georgia State was the first to strike as they scored one run across in the first inning. They also tacked on three more in the third inning to extend the lead to four.
The first hit of the day for Kennesaw State came from the bat of
Ty Hardeman in the third inning with a slash up the middle. It would be the first of six hits for the Black and Gold.
The biggest counter punch of the game came in the sixth inning for KSU. To begin the inning,
Stella Henry reached with a single toward second base. A fielder's choice was the result of
Madison Miller at bat which led to a
Hannah Harvey single and
Macie Howes reaching via hit by pitch.
It all built up perfectly for
Reese Evans to breathe life into the offense as she singled to left center with the bases loaded. It resulted in three runs but only two RBI due to an error by the left fielder. Her bases clearing single brought the game to 4-3 still in favor of GSU.
That was the final wave as the Panthers took down the Owls 4-3.
