FLORENCE, Ala. – Kennesaw State's (13-32) conference winning streak came to an end as the Lions (30-14) swipe away both games Saturday evening in Alabama.
Game One (L, 2-1)
The first hit of the day came from
Ava Guzowski as she squeaked one through the middle of the inside part of the bat. She reappeared at shortstop after missing the midweek match versus Georgia State.
The first run was manufactured by the Lions as it was created from a foul ball fly out with a runner on third. Guzowski made an astonishing over the shoulder catch in foul territory and laser a throw to home but just a second late, resulting in a 1-0 score.
In the fifth inning,
Macie Howes sent a thunderous shot over the fence in left field. She roped the first pitch of the at-bat to tie the game at one a piece. She collected yet another hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, her seventh multi hit game of her season.
In the home half of the fifth, UNA scored a run on an infield single to regain the lead 2-1 and finalizing at that tally.
Game Two (L, 6-0)
The waters were quiet early on until North Alabama shuttled five runs on the board in the third inning.
The Lions added another via a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Lindsey Kyte relieved
Kenley Hilleary in the fourth inning and tossed three inning of one run ball.
Spotlight Performances
In game one,
Macie Howes collected two of the teams' three hits along with the lone run scored
Howes gunned down a runner attempting to steal second base for her eighth of the year
Caroline Shumeyko singled and took a walk in game two
Guzowski recorded two walks in game two, a season high for the freshman
On Deck
The final game of the series will start at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT in Florence, Ala.
