KENNESAW, Ga. – The power of the Kennesaw State (6-17) bats was not enough to overcome UTSA (8-19) Tuesday afternoon in the 5-3 loss.
The first inning favored the Roadrunners as they took the second pitch of the game out of the park but the Owls did not waver.
In the bottom of the second inning,
Kiera Cooper equalized the game ripping a homer to left field for a solo bomb. Afterward,
Reese Evans hit a round tripper to right field to take the lead 2-1.
Cooper tallied her first home run of the year while Evans knocked in the first of her collegiate career. The first home run snapped a 12-game home run-less streak with the previous coming versus ETSU from
Kassidy Amerson-Fox.
The last time the Owls homered in back-to-back at-bats was March 27, 2021, versus North Alabama. The two home run hitters in that game were Lexi Solorzano and current assistant coach,
Brea Dickey.
After surrendering four runs in the middle innings, KSU was ready to put a jolt back into the game.
Madison Miller walked in a run with the bases loaded, becoming the potential winning run.
UTSA forced a fly out to end the game with the bases juiced.
