NASHVILLE – Tied 3-3 in the final frame, Lipscomb plated one run in the ninth inning to defeat Kennesaw State, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at Dugan Field. After today's results, the Owls (22-24, 12-12 ASUN Conference) and Bisons (27-21, 18-6 ASUN) are tied at 27 wins apiece in the all-time series that dates back to 2007.
Braden Osbolt got the start for KSU in the series finale. The freshman tossed 6.1 innings and allowed three runs (one earned) with five strikeouts. Osbolt picked up the no-decision during his 12th appearance of the year.
Smith Pinson (2-1) was called out of the bullpen in the seventh inning. The right-hander threw 2.1 innings and posted three strikeouts with one earned run on the day.
The Kennesaw State offense collected five hits and had two players record multi-hit games. Spencer Hanson led the way with his team-leading, 12th homer of the season in a 2-for-4 afternoon. The designated hitter also registered two RBI in the contest.
Donovan Cash put together a 2-for-4 day which included his eighth double of the year. The first baseman has now posted 16 multi-hit games this season.
Wade Richardson was the other Owl to record a base hit as he went 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored. The shortstop has hit safely in six of his last eight games.
The Owls jumped on the board in the top of the first when Nick Colina drew a walk and scored on a two-run bomb from Hanson. This was KSU's 22nd home run in the last 13 games.
Lipscomb scratched one run across in the bottom of the first and then scored one in both the fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-2 lead.
The game did not see another run cross the plate until Wade Richardson scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the eighth inning. This tied the score at three runs apiece.
Lipscomb earned the walk-off victory with one run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Owls return home to host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this Wednesday, May 10 inside Stillwell Stadium. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. and will be the 30th matchup between the two teams in series history. Tickets are available for purchase by clicking here.
