KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State softball (12-24, 4-6 ASUN Conference) fell to the high-powered North Alabama Lions (22-9, 4-6 ASUN) 5-0 inside Bailey Park Thursday.
Starter
Melanie Bennett (6-7) pitched 5.0 innings allowing only two earned runs in the contest. The start broke her tie with Logan Viers for fourth-most in KSU Division I career history with 78.
Freshman
Stella Henry recorded a two-hit game, her 12th against ASUN competition this season. Her batting average against conference foes now stands at .429.
UNA scored first and led 2-0 after the first three frames.
A sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to extend the Lion lead to 3-0.
Relief pitcher
Kenley Hilleary shined in the sixth inning, getting out of a bases-loaded, no-outs jams to record a scoreless frame against UNA.
Taylor Cates drew a walk in the bottom of the inning to extend her reached-base streak to a team-leading six games.
The Lions added two more in the seventh to go up by the eventual finale score of 5-0.
Bennett was credited with the loss.
