Black and Gold Battle to Stalemate in Tennessee

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Defense reigned supreme Thursday night in Clarksville, Tenn. as the Owls tied with the Governors 0-0.

"I think we played well and came in determined," coach Benji Walton said. "We had the most shots in a game we had all season. Austin Peay's keeper and defense stood up, but we just couldn't find the net. We are still in the mix for the postseason and these last two games will be important."

This match marks the seventh shutout the Owls (3-7-6) have solidified this season with three coming via Atlantic Sun play. Austin Peay advances to 5-9-3 and will play Queens and Lipscomb to round out the season.

Senior Camryn Simmons made a possible goal saving dive in front of the most dangerous shot by Austin Peay in the first half.

The Owls massively outshot the Govs in the first half with a 9-4 tilt holding the Govs without a shot on goal. KSU had three shots on goal to go with two corners.

Halfway through the second half, Macie Rainwater sent a shot on goal off the header from Camryn Simmons' cross into the box. It was swallowed up by the keeper.

Rainwater almost netted another one after she headed a ball to the left side of the goal off the free kick from Aly Bryan.

With 15 minutes left, Allanah Blye made an astonishing diving save to her right. She negated the perfectly placed shot from the APSU attack saving what would've been a goal at the top of the box.

KSU nearly ended the scoreless tie off a Camryn Simmons header in the final three minutes of the match. The APSU defense was able to clear after the ball deflected around several Govs defenders.

Kennesaw State often dominated the pacing with 17 shots, nine of which being on goal. They also one upped APSU in corners with seven, the Govs earning six.
