SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team posted a season-high 13 shots but were unable to find the back of the net in a 1-0 loss at Wofford on Sunday afternoon.
Wofford's Caileen Almeida broke the tie in the 32nd minute as Kaylee Hammer made a diving stop but the ball rebounded off a Kennesaw State defender and into the net.
The Owls came out in the second half more aggressive offensively. After just four shots in the first 45 minutes, KSU pushed the pace with nine shots in the second half but could not convert any of the opportunities.
KSU's best scoring chance came right at the 90-minute mark. Wofford's Hailey Roth received a yellow card and Kennesaw State was awarded a free kick just outside the box. Kendall Higgs placed a near-perfect ball but clipped the left crossbar and went wide as the Terriers held on for the 1-0 victory.
