KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's lacrosse scored 12 unanswered goals in the first half on the way to a commanding halftime advantage, while three players posted a hat trick as the Owls posted a second straight victory, 14-8 over Winthrop on Thursday afternoon from Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
The Eagles (0-2) scored the day's first goal just over a minute into the contest. KSU (2-1) came right back however thanks to leading scorer
Siena Gore. The senior midfielder scored the first of her three first-quarter goals to tie the game at 1-1 and spark the 12-0 run for the Owls. KSU finished the first quarter up 7-1 and scored the next five of the second quarter for its largest lead of the season at 12-1 just past midway through the second quarter.
The Owls would finish the first half with a 12-3 advantage and went up again by 10 in the third quarter thanks to
Bailey Wilson's first score of the season. The Owls then went to the bench, playing numerous underclassmen over the final 20 minutes in what turned out to be an eventual six-goal victory.
OWL OF THE GAME: For the third time this season Gore led or tied for the lead for the Owls in scoring, finishing with four goals off eight shots, to go along with 10 draw controls for the afternoon.

NOTES
- Also scoring four goals on Thursday for the Owls was
McKenzie Jackson, while
Chesslyn Lamar added three goals and an assist for four points. It was the first hat trick of the season for both players.
- The other Owl scores came from
Jaxsyn Schonewille and
Hannah Barth.

Julia Weiss played the entire 60 minutes in the net and recorded five saves.
- KSU finished with a 34-21 edge on shots, and 13-12 on draw controls, though the Eagles came up with the edge in ground balls 17-10.
