CONWAY, Ark. – Kennesaw State closed out its three-game road trip with a 1-0 loss at Central Arkansas Sunday afternoon at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex. Allanah Blye posted another strong game with 10 saves, the seventh-highest total in KSU history. The goalkeeper broke the all-time Owl record earlier this season with 16 against Liberty.
Macie Rainwater led the KSU offense with six shots and one on-goal. The Owls finished with a season-best 16 shots on the day.
Central Arkansas opened the scoring as Taylor Lassiter found the back of the net in the 8th minute to take a 1-0 lead early.
The Sugar Bears maintained possession for the majority of the first half and outshot KSU 9-4 in the first half.
Erin Miller made a massive defensive play late in the first half as the Central Arkansas attack got behind Owl goalkeeper Allanah Blye. Miller knocked the ball away in the box before UCA could strike the ball into the open net.
Kennesaw State flipped the script and picked up the pace offensively in the second half, tripling its number of shots with 12 in the final 45 minutes. Macie Rainwater just missed an equalizer as the ball trickled left of the goal. Aly Bryan and the KSU attack had another excellent chance, but her shot was blocked and went inches left of the goal in the 52nd minute.
Blye made an excellent diving stop to push the Central Arkansas free kick wide to keep the Bears from extending their lead six minutes later.
KSU had five shots over the final 20 minutes to try and find the equalizer, but UCA kept the Owls out of the net and held on for the 1-0 victory.
