JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State played a thriller Sunday night in ASUN volleyball play, as the JSU Gamecocks won the first, fourth and fifth sets to hand the Owls a second-straight conference loss, this time by a 3-2 score (21-25, 27-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-10). The Owls dropped to 7-7 overall, and 1-2 in ASUN play. while the Gamecocks improved to 12-4, 2-1 in the conference.

It was a complete turnaround from a day ago, as the Owls improved in nearly every area. After falling behind 1-0 in the match, the Owls bounced back with two straight wins for a 2-1 edge. KSU then jumped out to a 10-6 advantage in the fourth, but couldn't hold back the hosts who stormed back to claim the set. The Gamecocks then took an early lead in the deciding fifth set on the way to the five-point win.

QUOTEABLE: "This was a good response after our play yesterday. We definitely played much better today, and just came up a little short. Our group has to learn how to finish though. We had them on the ropes in set four and let them off."– KSU head coach Keith Schunzel

  • Lauren Chastang posted her sixth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs.
  • A season-high four players notched double-figures in kills. Joining Chastang was Emma Schurfranz (14), Dani Ballou (13) and Claire Parsons (11).
