Higgs’ Late Goal Powers KSU Over Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kendall Higgs scored on a free kick with less than five minutes left in the match to lead Kennesaw state to a road victory against Bellarmine University at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Owls (2-5-0, 1-2-0) earned their first ASUN Conference victory with the game-winner at 85:41 from the redshirt-junior.

"I'm just proud of this group. They haven't given up on each other despite some really tough breaks," said head coach Benji Walton.

KSU was held to seven shots with the score being the lone on goal. Higgs led the charge with four shots.

Goalkeeper Dylan Pixton walked away with a clean sheet after totaling three saves against 12 Bellarmine (1-3-0, 1-1-0) shots.

"We will enjoy this for a bit and see if we can't build a little momentum going forward," said Walton.

The Owls have a non-conference match this week when they play Vanderbilt University in Nashville for a Thursday afternoon tilt and return home to host North Alabama March 14.
