KENNESAW, Ga. – The No. 9 Kennesaw State football team steps out of league play Saturday, hosting first-year FCS member Dixie State with a 1 p.m. kickoff at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

Top Storylines
• KSU is looking to move to 3-0 against Dixie State and match its best start in school history, a mark set during the inaugural year of the program in 2015.

• The Owls are going for their 14th consecutive non-conference regular season home win against Dixie State, a streak that dates back to the beginning of the 2016 season.

• With the 24-19 win against Charleston Southern, head coach Brian Bohannon became the fastest coach in Big South history to reach 50 career coaching victories, doing so in just 65 games. The next closest coach is former Coastal Carolina HC David Bennett who needed 78 games.

• Located 1,922 miles from Kennesaw, Georgia, Dixie State will geographically be the western-most opponent KSU has ever faced, located in Saint George, Utah. The Owls have also played Weber State (Ogden, Utah) and Montana State (Bozeman).

• The KSU defense has been unstoppable in the second and third quarters this year. In 17 drives, the Owls have allowed just 98 yards, forced nine punts, three fumbles and one turnover on downs.

• The Owls have scored in seven of eight trips to the red zone in 2021, with six touchdowns and one field goal. All six touchdowns have been rushing scores.

• Kennesaw State set a school record for time of possession last week against Charleston Southern, holding the ball for 40 minutes and 20 seconds. The longest drive of the game was 16 plays and lasted 9:56 in the first quarter.

• The Owls are coming off their 16th Big South Conference win in their last 17 tries, knocking off Charleston Southern 24-19.

• Kennesaw State is now 5-1 in Big South openers and has started 1-0 in league play each of the last four seasons. 

• Kennesaw State is 29-5 all-time in Fifth Third Bank Stadium, including winning 20 of its last 21 regular season home games.

• The Owls currently rank No. 2 in the country in rushing yards per game at 268.5. KSU has rushed for 200-plus yards in 18 consecutive games dating back to the 2017 season and 59 of 65 games all time.

• Kennesaw ranks No. 7 in the country in total defense through two games, surrendering 202.0 yards game. 

• After holding the ball for over 40 minutes against Charleston Southern, KSU ranks seventh in the country in time of possession among teams that have played multiple games, averaging 35:15 per contest. 

• The Owls rank No. 1 in the country in passing yards per completion at 27.0 after leading the nation in the category last season at 21.42.
