KENNESAW, Ga. – Senior Erin Harris broke a scoreless game late and added an insurance goal as Kennesaw State picked up a 2-0 win against the University of North Alabama Sunday at the KSU Sports Park.
The Owls (3-6-0, 2-2-0 ASUN Conference) and Lions (1-6-0, 0-4-0) were in a defensive struggle through the first 80 minutes. However, KSU had multiple looks on goal through the final 15 minutes and finally found room past Lion goalkeeper Savannah Stewart on Harris' leg.
Her first goal arrived in the 81st minute on a Kendall Higgs assist. Then, Kameron Downs punched the ball out to the fellow Peachtree Ridge High School graduate for the second score at 86:16.
Harris played 72 minutes and had six shots and three on target. Higgs and Kendall Hart each had three attempts.
In total, KSU had 18 shots and 11 on goal along with seven corner kicks.
The Owl defense was feisty with three shots on goal allowed. Dylan Pixton earned the win in net with three saves.
Sunday marked the fifth meeting between the programs where KSU now has the upper hand, 3-2.
KSU continues ASUN play with a home match against Bellarmine Sunday, Mar. 21.
