JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An early goal by Isabella Contreras lifted Kennesaw State to a 1-0 road victory over Jacksonville University Sunday at Southern Oak Stadium.
"Another tough road game for our team, but it was great for us to earn the three points today. I'm proud of the fight. Probably not our prettiest game, but sometimes you just have to battle and find a way and we did just that," said Head Coach Benji Walton. "We are excited to get home and see if we can keep this going."
Contreras scored thanks to an Emely Sosa assist at 9:25. It was all the Owls (6-5-0, 1-1-0 ASUN Conference) needed thanks to stellar defense.
Tiffany Sornpao totaled six saves against the Dolphins (0-8-2, 0-2-0) with three in each half.
KSU outshot JU, 17-9, and had 11 on-goal. Erin Harris led the charge with five shots and four on-target.
The Owls return home to host North Florida on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m.
