KENNESAW, Ga. – Becky Contreras' 31st minute goal was enough for Kennesaw State University to secure the victory over the College of Charleston Thursday night, 1-0.
Becky Contreras pounced on a loose ball in the box sent in by Kat Schreck who was bursting down the left side of the field. Contreras poked the ball home and it nestled in the back of the net.
The Owls (2-1-0) did a good job of controlling possession throughout the game, but the Cougars (1-2-0) didn't back down easily as Charleston registered 12 shots, forcing Owls goalkeeper
Tiffany Sornpao to make four saves to protect the Owls' lead and register her first clean sheet of the season. She made multiple aggressive efforts to keep other attempts in the box away.
The Owls registered eight shots themselves, five on goal.
KSU continues its home stretch with a matchup vs Alabama A&M at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Monday, Sept. 2 at 3 p.m.
