First two of career help defeat GSU

ATLANTA, Ga. – Kendall Baker scored twice in the opening half to lead Kennesaw State to a 4-1 triumph against Georgia State Sunday night at the GSU Sports Complex.

Baker was the recipient of a fantastic pass from Isabella Contreras to open the scoring. Her first career goal arrived at 21:05.

Shortly thereafter, KSU (1-1-0) had lightning strike twice. Becky Contreras's header off a Morgan Harrison corner kick found room inside the upper left post at 25:33, and Baker knifed in another buzzer-sounder at 28:43 for a 3-0 Owl lead.

GSU's (0-2-0) Lexie Knox scored just before intermission (43:43) to make the score 3-1.

Erin Harris netted her second of the season with a header off a cross from Kelsey Hahn at 57:39.

Tiffany Sornpao registered five saves.

Each team totaled six shots on-goal, with GSU racking up 15 total shots and KSU had 13.

KSU opens its home schedule at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 29 vs. College of Charleston at 7 p.m.
