KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State baseball snapped Jacksonville's five-game winning streak with a complete team effort on Friday (May 17) as the Owls tallied 17 hits to blank the Dolphins 10-0.
Terence Norman ended the contest 4-for-4 with three RBI while
Justin Russell blasted two home runs.
Ryan Kennedy and
Jake McLinskey threw nine combined innings of scoreless baseball.
Norman put the Owls on the board early, as the junior blasted a two-run home run to right field to give KSU a 2-0 lead. It did not take Kennesaw State to extend the lead after Norman plated
Jaylen Smith in the second inning.
Kennedy was spectacular on the mound for the Owls, hurling 6.0 innings while punching out six batters and surrounding a mere three hits.
Russell put the Owls back in the scoring column in the seventh inning with a two-run moon shot to right field to extend the lead to 5-0. Just one inning later, he jacked another two-run homer to push the lead to 7-0.
Tyler Tolve drove in two more runs later in the eighth inning before Smith plated
David Chabut and Tolve to give the Owls the 10-0 advantage after eight frames.
Tyler Simon and
Garrett Hodges joined Norman, Russell, Smith and Tolve as the Owls to end with multiple hits.
McLinskey shut the door on the Dolphins after Kennedy's immaculate start, as the senior pitched three innings of hitless, scoreless baseball.
Kennesaw State looks to win the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. Tomorrow will be KSU's senior day as eleven Owls will be honored before first pitch.
