JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An early onslaught of runs from UNF doomed the Owls 8-0 on Friday (May 10) night at Harmon Stadium.
The Owls fell behind quickly in the game one of the three-game set, trailing 4-0 after the first frame. The Ospreys tacked on two runs in the second and third innings resulting in an 8-0 lead after four frames.
Kennesaw State collected just two hits in the first four innings, with
Tyler Tolve and
Terence Norman pelting base hits.
Brendan Bickleman made an appearance out of the bullpen in the fourth inning and was immediately effective. He threw 3.0 innings of no-hit baseball while punching a pair of batters.
The Owls collected their third hit of the game when
Garrett Hodges singled up the middle in the seventh inning. KSU could not advance the baserunner and stranded him at first.
Max Ryan made his second appearance of the season and pitched the eighth inning for the Owls while not allowing a run.
Jake Franklin led off the ninth with a single to center field that was followed by an Osprey error. The Owls loaded the bases after
Garrett Hodges moved Franklin and Norman to the next station with a single through the left side. All three runners were left on the bases after a ground ball to the shortstop ended the game.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m.
