KENT, Ohio – Trailing by one at the half, the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team lit up the nets in the second half, out-scoring Kent State 10-2, to cruise to an 18-11 victory Thursday afternoon.

Four Owls recorded hat tricks on the day with
Siena Gore and
Anna Giulitto netting five goals each, a career-high mark for Giulitto.

How it happened: The first half was a period of runs as Kent State (1-13, 0-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead to open the game before Giulitto finally got the Owls (6-7, 1-1) on the board to make it 3-1 at the 22:22 mark. The Golden Flashes extended their lead to 5-1, before KSU clawed its way back behind a 5-0 run.

Abby Squires and
Siena Gore netted two goals each during the Owls' run with
Emily Napierala capping it off to give KSU its first lead of the game, 6-5, with 7:43 to play. The Golden Flashes responded with a 4-0 run of their own to re-take the lead 9-6 with just three minutes left.

Squires and Giulitto managed to find the back of the net before time expired to pull KSU within one, 9-8, heading into halftime. With Squires hat trick in the first half, she has now logged three or more goals in two straight games, four of the last five.

The Lawrenceville, Ga., native set the tone for KSU as
Siena Gore followed suit with a hat trick of her own to open the scoring in the second half, netting a free position shot to put both teams back on level terms 9-9.

After Kent State recorded a free position shot of its own,
Marissa Gore sparked a 5-0 run for the Owls to seize control.
Marissa Gore recorded three of KSU's five goals during the six-minute run, with Giulitto netting one as well to become the third and fourth Owls, respectively, to log hat tricks.

The Golden Flashes attempted to halt KSU's run with a goal at the 13:52 mark to make it 14-11, but the Owls closed out the game with four straight goals to record the victory.
