KENNESAW, Ga. – Every player in the Kennesaw State (15-10) lineup recorded a hit on Sunday afternoon, as KSU completed to sweep of North Alabama (3-19), 8-3, inside Stillwell Stadium.
Although each player recorded a hit,
Terence Norman was the only Owl to recorded more than one, going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
After recording two outs in the first inning, the Owls' offense ignited and scored a trio of runs to give the Owls the early lead. After Norman doubled,
Justin Russell singled through the left side of the infield to plate Norman.
Garrett Hodges brought Russell around before an RBI single from
Tyler Simon scored the final run of the inning.
The Lions took advantage of an Owl error in the second inning and scored their first run of the ballgame with two outs.
Kennesaw State plated three more runs in the fourth inning behind two RBI singles. After
Jaylen Smith singled down the left field line, A.J. Willoughby doubled to right center to move Smith around to third base.
Daniel Seres skied a sacrifice fly to center field before
David Chabut singled to score Willoughby. With one out in the inning, Norman singled to center field to plate Chabut to cap off the Owls' three-run frame.
The Owls piled on another run in the sixth inning when
Jake Franklin singled up the middle to score Seres.
With the bases loaded in the seventh inning, UNA singled through the left side for the Lions final runs of the game.
Norman drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning for the Owls eighth run of the contest.
Brooks Buckler took the mound for the Owls and earned his second win of the season. He tossed 5.0 innings, yielding one run while striking out three.
Brison Finney was effective out of the bullpen for KSU, as he struck out four batters in 1.2 innings pitched.
Jared Staples ended the game on the bump for the Owls and gave up just one hit in 2.1 innings pitched.
The Owls are back on the diamond on Wednesday (March 27) at Georgia State. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
