After recording two outs in the first inning, the Owls' offense ignited and scored a trio of runs to give the Owls the early lead. After Norman doubled, Justin Russell singled through the left side of the infield to plate Norman. Garrett Hodges brought Russell around before an RBI single from Tyler Simon scored the final run of the inning.

The Lions took advantage of an Owl error in the second inning and scored their first run of the ballgame with two outs.

Kennesaw State plated three more runs in the fourth inning behind two RBI singles. After Jaylen Smith singled down the left field line, A.J. Willoughby doubled to right center to move Smith around to third base. Daniel Seres skied a sacrifice fly to center field before David Chabut singled to score Willoughby. With one out in the inning, Norman singled to center field to plate Chabut to cap off the Owls' three-run frame.

The Owls piled on another run in the sixth inning when Jake Franklin singled up the middle to score Seres.

With the bases loaded in the seventh inning, UNA singled through the left side for the Lions final runs of the game.

Norman drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning for the Owls eighth run of the contest.
