KSU's Offense Propels Owls Over Binghamton

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Owls extended their winning streak to six games behind another offensive masterpiece versus Binghamton in a 10-1 victory inside Stillwell Stadium.

KSU remains undefeated when scoring first this season after plating a run in the first inning. After Terence Norman plated David Chabut with a single to the third baseman, the Owls never relinquished the lead.

On the first pitch that he saw in the second inning, Jaylen Smith belted a home run to left field to give Kennesaw State a 2-0 advantage. Smith recorded his second RBI of the night in the fourth inning, when the Lithonia, Ga., native pushed home a run with a ground ball to the short stop.

Binghamton plated its only run of the ballgame in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Owls retaliated in the bottom of the inning when Garrett Hodges lined a single up the middle to score Jake Franklin and David Chabut and push the KSU advantage to 5-1.
Kennesaw State put together a five-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach. With runners on first and second and no outs, Justin Russell pinch hit for Darius Diaz and mashed a three-run home run to right field for his first home run of the season.

The Owls continued to pile on runs as Tyler Tolve scored on a triple off of the bat of Chabut. Franklin plated Chabut with a sacrifice fly to left field for the Owls final run of the game.

Brendan Bickleman picked up his second win of the season after tossing 5.0 innings, giving up just one run while striking out three batters. Nathan Dupree, Ryan Wesley and Luke Torbert all saw at least one inning of action out of the bullpen.
