Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
» The Ospreys applied pressure for much of the first and built a 2-0 lead on goals by Brandi Walker (21:39) and Kelli Crowley (38:09). UNF held a 6-2 shot advantage over the first 45 minutes.
» The Owls came out after halftime and shocked the Ospreys, scoring two goals less than three minutes into the second half when
Isabella Contreras scored twice in the span of 26 seconds to tie the match.
Erin Harris was credited assists on both goals.
» The second overtime barely got underway before Higgs received an assist from
Morgan Harrison on the game-winning goal.
COACH SPEAK
"I am so unbelievably proud of this team," head coach
Benji Walton said. "I thought UNF owned the game in the first half. I challenged the team at halftime and told the players they had 45 minutes to prove to everyone what kind of team they really are. And that is exactly what they did.
Â
"We earned a huge three points on the road," Walton added. "Now we have to stay focused and determined as we have a very tough game back in Florida Thursday versus Stetson."
NOTES
» With 10 wins on the season, Kennesaw State has reached double digits in victories for the second time in the last three seasons.
» The Owls are 3-1 in ASUN Conference play for the first time since 2013 when they won their first three conference matches.
» The overtime victory was the first for Kennesaw State since defeating Jacksonville, 2-1, on Oct. 2, 2016.
» Junior
Isabella Contreras' two goals against North Florida matched her single-game career-high previously accomplished Oct. 14, 2017 versus NJIT.
