KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team fell 2-1 to North Alabama in an ASUN Conference match Sunday in Florence, Alabama.

The loss dropped the Owls to 8-3-1 overall and 1-1 in ASUN Conference play. The contest marked the first meeting between Kennesaw State and North Alabama (7-4, 1-0) since the Lions joined the ASUN Conference earlier this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
» North Alabama took a 1-0 lead when Tay Cavett scored in the 11th minute following an assist from Shelby Wall.
» Wall extended the Lions' lead with a goal in the 63rd minute for the eventual-game winning score.
» Isabella Contreras cut the deficit in half scoring 30 yards for her first goal of the season at the 65:09 mark.

COACH SPEAK
"I thought we played one of our more complete games of the season today," head coach Benji Walton said. "They have some good finishing players and, simply put, executed their chances better than we did, and it was a hard-fought battle.

"We are disappointed with the loss but I think we can certainly build off how we played tonight," Walton added. "Conference play brings out everybody's best and there are no easy games. We will need to regroup and respond as another tough weekend is only a few days away."

NOTES
» The eight wins on the season, Kennesaw State has equaled its win total from a year ago when it finished 8-7-4.
» The Owls improved to 5-0-1 at home this season and 6-0-2 in their last eight matches at Fifth Third Bank Stadium dating back to 2017.
» With her first goal of the season Sunday, Isabella Contreras became the ninth different Owl to score.
