MOREHEAD, Ky. – A stout defensive effort and goals by Jenna Vollrath and Emely Sosa sparked the Kennesaw State women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Morehead State Sunday afternoon in Morehead, Ky.
 
The win marked the Owls' (5-1) second straight shutout and improved upon their best start to a season since moving to the NCAA Division I level in 2005.

HOW IT HAPPENED
» Kennesaw State scored midway through the first half when Erin Harris delivered a cross into the box where Vollrath delivered a shot into the left corner for a goal at the 19:38 mark.
» Sosa gave the Owls a big insurance goal when she lofted a shot over the goalkeeper's head from straight on at the 70:04 mark.

COACH SPEAK
"It was another hard-fought game in which we needed a full team effort to come away with a win," head coach Benji Walton said. "This was no easy place to play and I thought our players did a good job of solving the game and finding a way to get a result. Overall, to go on the road and get two wins is terribly difficult, and for us to do that is huge as we move forward."

 NOTES
» The 5-1 start by the Owls marks their best since moving to the Division I level in 2005. Kennesaw State began the 2003 campaign 8-0 en route to a 25-1-0 record and the NCAA Division II national championship.
» Kennesaw State has scored 10 goals on the season with Jenna Vollrath and Emely Sosa becoming the first Owls to score multiple times.
» KSU recorded its fourth shutout in six matches. Redshirt sophomore Tiffany Sornpao has been in goal for each shutout.
» Sornpao had a season-high nine saves in the Owls' win over Morehead State.
