GREENVILLE, S.C. – An early second half goal and solid defensive team effort lifted the Kennesaw State women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over host Furman Friday night at Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C.

Jenna Vollrath accounted for the match's lone score as she notched her first career goal to help the Owls improve to 4-1 for the first since moving to the NCAA Division I level in 2005.
How it Happened
» The Owls broke the scoreless tie early in the second half, scoring on a breakaway counter attack following a corner kick by the Paladins. Vollrath outraced the defender and beat the goalkeeper at the 48:51 mark.
» Redshirt sophomore
Tiffany Sornpao had a solid match in goal, totaling eight saves, including five in the first half.

Benji Walton said. "We were humbled last weekend and to go on the road and play such a tough team like Furman shows some great resiliency by our ladies. These are the type of games that really prepare you for the long haul and I am grateful we were able to get such a good result."

» The 4-1 start by the Owls marks their best since moving to the Division I level in 2005. Kennesaw State began the 2003 campaign 8-0 en route to a 25-1-0 record and the NCAA Division II national championship.
» Kennesaw State has scored eight goals on the season with
Jenna Vollrath becoming the eighth different Owl to score.
» KSU recorded its third shutout in five matches.
» Furman (3-1) entered the match 13-0-1 in its last 14 home matches before the Owls' snapped the Paladins' home unbeaten streak. Furman last lost a home match in 2016.
