Coach Speak
"It's always a battle with Georgia State. They always come in well prepared and well coached," head coach
Benji Walton said. "There is always a little more passion for both teams and that is what rivalries are about. I am glad we were able to respond because I think Georgia State set the tone in the first half. I think we responded in the second half and made some good adjustments personnel wise.
Â
"I can't say enough about our subs who I thought came off the bench and calmed us down," Walton added. "
Kendall Baker,
Morgan Harrison,
Sydney Sauer calmed us down and
Kameron Downs comes in and her first pass created a cross for a goal. It won't be in the stat sheet, but we don't win the game without those guys."
Â
On Second Half Play
"In the first half Georgia State was anticipating play better than we were, they were more physical and knocking us off the ball, which is not our style," Walton said. "I think we matched that in the second half and were able to connect some passes better and finally get some rhythm as we matched their tempo. I am proud that we responded."
