THE STORYLINE:
· Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team made a huge comeback in the first half to tie the score at halftime, but Coastal Carolina used a big second half to edge out the Owls 18-12 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Friday, April 13.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
· Coastal Carolina scored the six goals in the game, but after that the Owls started to settle down.
· Kennesaw State closed the half on a 9-3 run to tie the score at nine.
Siena Gore,
Connor Zophy and
Anna Giulitto each had two goals to help with the comeback.
· The final goal of the half came with 12 seconds to go and
Emily Napierala caused a turnover on the Chants goalie to tie up the score.
· Coastal Carolina started the second half similar to the first half scoring five of the first six goals to go up 15-10.
· With 13:23 remaining
Haley Swift found Gore for her second assist of the day and third point of the game to give her 100-career points.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· Swift became the fifth player in Kennesaw State lacrosse history to reach the 100-career point mark. Last season, she set a single-season record with 66 points.
· Gore led the team with four goals and won nine draw controls. She and
Emily Hallberg led the team with two caused turnovers.
· After trailing by six goals, Kennesaw State stormed back in the final 11:09 of the of the first half to tie the score at 9 at the break.
· Kennesaw State won the draw control battle over the Chanticleers 17-15.
UP NEXT
The Owls will host Senior Day against Old Dominion on Sunday, April 15 at noon. KSU has six seniors that it will honor before the game starts on the field.
