DELAND, Fla. – Kennesaw State suffered a tough 86-74 loss to the Stetson Hatters on the road on Saturday, February 17.
It snapped the Owls four-game win streak, but they still sit 4-1 in the month of February.
Nick Masterson and
Anthony Wilson both led the team with 14 points along with two other players in double figures with
Kyle Clarke having 12 and
Jordan Jones finishing with 10.
With the Owls leading by one at halftime, both teams came out trading baskets in the second half and it was Stetson that grabbed the momentum with a 14-2 run to go up 69-58.
KSU cut that back down to seven, but was unable to slow the Hatters down enough to make things interesting down the stretch.
To start the game, Kennesaw State got off to a cold start and found themselves in an early eight-point hole, but climbed out of it by the end of the first half to lead 39-38 at halftime.
Both teams were hot from the floor in the first half as KSU shot 57 percent and Stetson shot 55 percent.
To start the second half, both teams traded baskets for the first eight minutes.
With Kennesaw State leading 56-55, the Hatters went on the decisive 14-2 run to take their first double-digit lead of the game.
The Owls cut that lead down to seven, but Stetson responded with another 9-0 run to put the game out of reach and closed out the game 86-74.
Kennesaw State falls to 10-18 on the year and 6-7 in the ASUN.
There is one game left in the regular season for Kennesaw State and it will be on the road at Lipscomb this Thursday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

- The loss to Stetson snaps a four game winning streak for the Owls. That was their longest winning streak since the 2009-10 season.
- Despite today's misstep, KSU has still won 8 of 10 against the Hatters.
- The Owls once again trailed by eight early for the second game in a row before getting going on offense. Against FGCU, KSU trailed 11-3 and against Stetson, the Owls trailed 12-4.
- Kennesaw State shot 55 percent from the floor, but unfortunately Stetson also shot 55 percent from the floor. The Hatters also pulled down 13 offensive rebounds in the game.
- Clarke scored 12 points on 5-8 shooting in front of his family at the game. He also led the team with six assists.
