KENNESAW, Ga. – Sophomore Abi Hunt's first career goal was a big one as it proved to be the decisive score as Kennesaw State defeated defending ASUN Conference Champion Florida Gulf Coast, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

With the win, the Owls (12-3-1, 5-1) clinched a berth in the ASUN Conference Championship and topped the Eagles (9-3-2, 3-3-0) for the first time since 2007.

HOW IT HAPPENED
» The lone score of the match came midway through the first half when Morgan Harrison delivered a ball to Hunt, who drilled a shot from 20 yards out and into the upper left-corner of the goal at the 22:36 mark.
» The second half was played mostly on the Kennesaw State half of the field as FGCU applied pressure throughout the final 45 minutes, but the Owls' defense withstood the challenge to post the shutout.

COACH SPEAK
"What is neat about this team is someone always steps up on different days. I am just proud of the resiliency of the entire team," head coach Benji Walton said. "They (FGCU) have been the measuring stick in the conference for a decade. When you play them, you will see where you are. I thought our team was prepared, came in motivated and played a very good game."

On Clinching an ASUN Championship Berth
"It's huge. I think this is the toughest the conference has been since I've been here. For us to go through the first six games and clinch is big," Walton said. "Now we have two games to try and fight for a top seed, and that is the position you want to be in."

NOTES
» With 12 victories on the season, Kennesaw State has reached its highest win total since posting an 17-4-0 record in 2007.
» The Owls are 5-1 in ASUN Conference play for the first time since 2007 when they began league play 7-0 before finishing 10-1-0.
