HILLSIDE, N.J. – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team had its four-match winning streak snapped on Saturday, falling 2-1 to NJIT in Hillside, N.J.

The loss dropped the Owls (12-4-1, 5-2-0) into a first-place tie with the Highlanders (11-4-1, 5-2-0) in the ASUN Conference standings. Both teams have 15 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
» The Owls wasted little time scoring, producing a goal at the 2:53 mark as
Erin Harris took advantage of mishandled ball by the Highlanders and found an opening in the net.
» The Highlanders answered with the equalizer as Fiona Wright scored the first of her two goals at the 18:19 mark and the two teams went into halftime tied, 1-1.
» Wright scored the game-winner, taking advantage of a short goal kick, dribbling past a couple defenders and scoring at the 51:26 mark.

"We're disappointed with the result. We felt like we played well enough to win but had some tough bounces that didn't go our way," head coach
Benji Walton said. "It's a tough result but I know we will regroup and come back ready to go next week."

» With 12 victories on the season, Kennesaw State has reached its highest win total since posting a 17-4-0 record in 2007.
» The five conference wins by the Owls are their most since recording a 5-3-1 mark in 2013.

Kennesaw State concludes its regular season next Sunday (Oct. 21) when it hosts Lipscomb at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
