Highlights
THE STORYLINE:
·
Forrest Bramlett's career-high five RBI and two home runs could not cancel out 13 hits and 15 runs from FGCU's lineup, dropping game two of the ASUN series, 15-6, at Stillwell Stadium Friday night.
· Bramlett recorded a three-run homer in the first inning and a two-run HR in the fifth, but the Eagles scored in six of the nine innings to take the contest.
· With the loss, Kennesaw State fell to 23-29 overall and 10-10 in ASUN action, while FGCU improved to 36-17 and 12-8 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, the Owls quickly responded when Bramlett hit his first of two home runs on the evening, cutting the deficit to 4-3 after one complete.
· The Eagles went on to score three runs in the second and four more in the fourth to take their largest lead of the ballgame at 11-3.
· The Black and Gold powered its way back to within five runs when
Chris Erwin hit a solo home run and then Bramlett followed with a two-run homer to cut the lead to 11-6.
· That would be the closest the Owls could get as FGCU scored one in the seventh, one in the eighth and two more in the ninth.
· Freshman RHP
Jordan Krueger was solo out of the bullpen for Kennesaw State, retiring his first seven batters and allowed just three hits and one earned run.
· Offensively, KSU was paced by Bramlett (2-for-5, five RBI, two HR), Erwin (1-for-4, HR, RBI),
Austin Upshaw (4-for-4) and
LaDonis Bryant (2-for-5)
