THE STORYLINE:
· Kennesaw State managed just four hits and one run in the ASUN series opener versus FGUC, dropping Thursday night's contest at Stillwell Stadium, 8-1.
· Chris Erwin totaled two of the four hits and the bullpen tossed 4.2 strong innings, but the Eagles' four home runs and a five-run fifth put the game out of reach.
· With the loss, Kennesaw State dropped to 23-28 overall and 10-9 in ASUN play, while FGCU improved to 35-17 and 11-8 in league action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
· Trailing 2-0, the Owls scored their lone run of the ballgame when Chris Erwin took the second pitch in his at-bat in the bottom of the fourth frame over the center field wall, cutting the Owls' deficit in half at 2-1.
· FGCU responded with six unanswered runs, plating five runs in the fifth and added one in the seventh to take its largest lead of the contest at 8-1.
· The Black and Gold's bullpen was superb throughout, allowing just two hits and one run in 4.2 innings of work between Erich Stahl, Will Bice and Taylor Wilkes.
· Offensively, Erwin (2-for-3, HR, RBI), David Chabut (1-for-3), and Austin Upshaw (1-for-4) paced the lineup with all four hits and the lone RBI.
