LAX: McGhee Record 100th Career Goal, Owls Drop Contest to Coastal Carolina

McGhee and Farwick Combine to Score Eight Goals for the Owls

THE STORYLINE: 
· After falling down early, Kennesaw State mounted a late comeback and got within three of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers with 2:01 remaining, but couldn't get any closer than that as the Chants ran the clock out. Sydney Farwick and Taylor McGhee to score eight of the team's 11 goals with McGhee scoring her 100th career goal late in the second half.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
· Coastal Carolina had the momentum early scoring five of the first six goals to take a 5-1 lead.
· The Owls had a tough time getting their offense going in the first half trailing by as many as six, but a goal by Farwick in the final minute of the first half had KSU trailing by five at the break and kicked the offense into gear.
· Goalie Alex Bunn checked into the game for the final 12 minutes of the first half and came up big in the cage making five saves to keep the Owls within striking distance.
· In the second half, each team traded goals two at a time until the final 10 minutes when KSU scored four out of five goals to get within three of the Chanticleers.
· With under a minute remaining, Coastal pushed their lead back to four before a Haley Swift goal got it back within three. After the Chants won the next draw control, they were able to run out the clock and escape with the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 
· McGhee became the third player in program history to reach the 100-goal mark with her third of the afternoon. She is second on the team this season with 40 goals.
· Farwick carried the offense at times today scoring five for the Owls. Her 43 goals this season is one goal off for a career high for her.
· Bunn finished the game with eight saves in the net in 41:57 of playing time.
· Swift and Olivia Hokanson were the other goal scorers for Kennesaw State as Swift had two and Hokanson scored one.
· Defensively, Laura Jordan led the way with two caused turnovers and three ground balls.

UP NEXT
Kennesaw State will host Furman for senior day on Sunday, April 30 at 12 p.m. The Owls will be honoring eight seniors before the game.
