LAX: Owls Mount Furious Comeback, Fall in OT at Stetson

Hokanson Led the Owls With 7 Goals

THE BASICS
Records: Kennesaw State (7-6, 3-3), Stetson (5-8, 5-1)

THE STORYLINE: 
· After trailing by as many as eight goals early in the second half, Kennesaw State mounted a furious comeback scoring seven straight and outscoring the Stetson Hatters 12-6 in the final 30 minutes to force overtime. After a couple of minutes in sudden-death overtime, Stetson got one to go for the 19-18 victory.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
· The Owls and Hatters traded goals early before Stetson used a 6-0 run to build a lead in the first half.
· After leading by six at halftime and scoring the first two goals of the second half to go up eight, Stetson started to feel the pressure from Kennesaw State.
· Kennesaw State mounted a furious comeback led by Taylor McGhee and Olivia Hokanson as the Owls scored seven straight goals to get within one with 18:29 remaining.
· KSU trailed by two goals with 6:40 remaining, but had one more comeback in them. The Owls tied the score up with a Sydney Farwick goal and took their first lead of the game as Hokanson caught a Haley Swift pass while diving and flipped it into the net with 1:28 remaining.
· After KSU won the next draw control, Stetson gained control of the ball with 29 seconds left and took the ball the length of the field to tie the game with 22 seconds remaining in regulation.
· With the game in sudden-death overtime, KSU won the draw control, but Stetson once again gained control and put the decisive goal in the back of the net for the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 
· Hokanson scored seven goals against the Hatters to lead the Owls. Coming into the game, she needed five to become the second player in Kennesaw State history to reach the 100-goal mark.
· With Stetson leading by eight goals, they also were controlling the draw winning 16 of the first 22 in the game to that point. After that, the Owls outdrew Stetson 13-4 the rest of the game helping spur their comeback on.
· McGhee had a huge game for the Owls as well scoring four goals and finishing with one assist. She also won six draw controls.
· Farwick once again dominated in the draw winning nine in the game. She also had the game tying goal in regulation.
· Swift finished with seven points with six assists and one goal. The six assists ties a single-game record at Kennesaw State.
 · Out of the five meetings against Stetson, this was the second time that the game has gone into overtime. Four of the five games, have been won by less than two goals.
