THE STORYLINE:Â
· In Kennesaw State's opening ASUN Conference game,
Laura Maness led the Owls over the Detroit Mercy 21-12 to push the team's win streak to five games.
Haley Swift set a new school record with 10 points netting six goals and dishing out four assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
· Swift got the Owls on the board early 41 seconds into the contest for their first lead of the game.
· The teams traded goals back and forth until Detroit Mercy went up 5-3 halfway through first half.
· Facing a two-goal deficit, KSU caught fire closing the half on a 6-0 run to go up 9-5 at halftime.
· In the second half, the Owls continued their run to 8-0 to take a six-goal lead up 11-5 early in the second half.
· Detroit Mercy wasn't going to quit though as they responded with a 3-0 run to get within three goals with 22:12 remaining in the game.
· The Owls were unfazed though as they responded to score eight of the next 10 goals to up 19-10 and cruise to a 21-12 road victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:Â
· This was the fifth win in a row for Kennesaw State. This is the longest win streak in school history.
· This is the first victory over Detroit Mercy in school history. Before, the Owls were 0-4 against the Titans.
· Swift set a school record with 10 points scoring six goals and dishing out four assists. Over the past three games, she has totaled 22 points.
· Three other Kennesaw State players were on fire on the offensive end as
Sydney Farwick,
Connor Zophy and Tayor McGhee each scored four goals.
· Farwick, the two-time defending ASUN Defensive Player of the Week, had another huge day winning nine draw controls, causing three turnovers and picking up three ground balls to go with her four goals and one assist. The nine draw controls is a season high for Farwick. She has had two other games where she has won eight draw controls.
·
Alex Bunn came up with some key saves and finished the game making 11. It is the third game this season that she has had double-figure saves.
· Kennesaw State once again scored over 20 goals. During their five-game winning streak, they have scored at least 20 goals in four of the five games.
