LAX: Owls Win 15-14 Thriller Over Army

Farwick Gets the Game Winner With 34 Seconds Remaining

THE STORYLINE: 
· After Army stormed back in the final nine minutes of the game to tie the score at 14, Haley Swift found Sydney Farwick open for the game winner with 34 seconds remaining. The final assist for Swift capped a career day for the sophomore as she led the team with eight points on four goals and four assists. The win gives Kennesaw State its third victory in a row.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
· After finding themselves in a 4-2 hole early, the Owls ran off five straight goals to take a 7-4 lead in the first period.
· After leading 8-6 at halftime, goalkeeper Alex Bunn made three key saves in the beginning of the second half allowing the offense to get going. The Owls scored the first three in the second half to build an 11-6 lead with 21:21 remaining.
· Once Kennesaw State led by five, the Cadets started chipping away at KSU's lead and with 2:03 remaining they tied the game at 14.
· After Army won the draw with the game tied, the Owls caused a turnover leading to the game-winner by Sydney Farwick with 34 seconds remaining.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 
· With the victory, Kennesaw State is now on a three-game winning streak and it pushes their record to 3-2 overall.
· KSU is now 3-1 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium this season.
· Swift came up big for the Owls with four goals and four assists totaling eight points in the game. In her freshman season, she totaled 11 points all year.
· There were four players with multiple goals in the game. That is the third game in a row the team has had at least four players score multiple goals.
· Taylor McGhee matched Swift with four goals on the afternoon to lead the team. She also won four draw controls.
· Farwick scored the game-winner for the Owls, but also had a game high six ground balls and won four draw controls.
· Alex Bunn stepped up in the cage for Kennesaw State making eight saves on the day.
· Being led by Farwick and McGhee, KSU won eight more draw controls on the afternoon than Army.
 
UP NEXT
Kennesaw State will look to end their five-game home stand against Presbyterian on Monday, March 20 at 6 p.m. to cap a five-game home stand.
