THE STORYLINE:Â
· Kennesaw State women's lacrosse opened their 2017 season against Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, February 11. The team had five different goal scorers in the game on the way to a 17-5 defeat to the Commodores.
Alex Bunn got the start in goal and made 11 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
· The Owls first goal of the season came with 3:41 remaining in the first half by freshman
Emily Napierala. Unfortunately, Vandy had built up an 8-0 lead to that point.
· Coming out of the locker room in the second half, Kennesaw State drew first blood as
Sydney Farwick got her first goal of the season making the score 8-2.
· Later in the second half, KSU got their offense going picking up three more goals by
Connor Zophy,
Izzy Palermo and
Haley Swift, but the Commodore lead was too much to overcome.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:Â
· Kennesaw State had two freshman score their first career goals in
Emily Napierala and
Izzy Palermo.
·
Alex Bunn made 11 saves in a little over 45 minutes of playing time.
Lauren Hoffman subbed in for Bunn playing 14:30 and made three saves.
· The Owls registered 21 shots overall in the game with 13 of those coming in the second half.

After starting on the road, Kennesaw State will get to play their next five games in the friendly confines of Fifth Third Bank Stadium beginning with Marquette on Tuesday, February 28 at 1 p.m.
