KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's second-half comeback attempt against Yale came up short as the Bulldogs ended up edging the Owls 89-74 on December 30 in the KSU Convocation Center.
KSU cut the lead down to seven points with 11:11 remaining, but couldn't get any closer than that as Yale stretched its lead back out to 15 late.
Five Owls scored in double figures led by
Tyler Hooker with 23 points.
Kennesaw State shot 53 percent from the floor, but got off to a slow start in the game allowing Yale to race out to an early lead.
They continued to build their lead up, but the Owls found their rhythm before the end of the half cutting the lead down to 46-30 at the break.
With their backs against the wall, KSU came out of the break trying to get back into the game. The Owls had cut the Bulldog lead back to single digits nine minutes into the second half putting some pressure on Yale.
The Owls cut the lead down to seven three times, but couldn't get it any closer than that due to Yale's hot shooting. They shot 60 percent from the floor in the game and had 22 assists on 37 field goals.
Four other players scored in double figures along with Hooker.
Jordan Jones had his third game this season in double figures with 12 points. He also led the team with six rebounds.
Kyle Clarke also provided a boost off the bench going 4-5 from the floor to score 11 points.
Kennesaw State has one more game before ASUN play starts and that is against Carver-Bible on January 2 at 7 p.m. in the KSU Convocation Center.

- The loss drops Kennesaw State 3-11 overall and is 3-3 on their home floor.
- The Owls got to the free throw line in the first half having 14 attempts. The team went 8-14 from the charity stripe in the first 20 minutes. The team ended up making 13-21 in the game.
- Hooker scored the teams first eight points of the game and ended up leading the Owls with 23 points on 10-17 shooting.
- Jones had a productive night on offense going 6-9 and finished with 12 points. It is the third time this season that Jones has scored in double figures.
- Clarke scored in double figures for the first time this season finishing with 11 points. He went 4-5 from the field and 3-3 from the free-throw line.
- This was the first meeting between Kennesaw State and Yale. The Owls will make a return trip next year to take on the Bulldogs.
