MBB: Owls Downed by Texas Tech on the Road

Scott Leads Team with 19 Points

LUBBOCK, Texas 
– The Kennesaw State men's basketball dropped its road contest to No. 24 Texas Tech on Wednesday, December 14.
 
James Scott led the team with 19 points and Tyler Hooker was the other Owl in double figures with 14.
 
The Red Raiders were ranked in the AP poll and showed why in front of their home crowd dropping KSU 82-53 in United Supermarket Arena.
 
Kennesaw State had a tough time on the offensive end the entire first half until the last minute when they went on an 8-1 run, but still trailed 42-19 at the break.
 
Scott had 11 of the 19 points for the Owls in the first half.
 
The offense opened up for Kennesaw State in the second half and kept pace with the Red Raiders.
 
At the beginning of the second half, KSU hit three field goals in a row to get the deficit at 19 points.
 
Over the final 20 minutes, Texas Tech only outscored KSU by six points.
 
The Owls were 20-28 from the free throw line against the Red Raiders. That is the most free throws the team has made this season.
 
Hooker scored nine of his 14 points from the charity stripe going 9-11 from the line.
 
After playing seven of its first nine games on the road, Kennesaw State will finally get a chance to play at home on Saturday, December 16 against Bethune-Cookman. Tip is at 7 p.m. in the KSU Convocation Center.

  • The Owls started the same group for the fourth game in a row with Hooker, Scott, Masterson, Jankovic and Jones.
  • Scott scored in double figures for the eighth time in nine games. He led the team with 19 points with 11 of those coming in the first half. He had 11 of the team's 19 points in the first 20 minutes.
  • The Owls struggled from the floor, but were successful at getting to the free throw line. KSU went 20-28 from the charity stripe led by Hooker who went 9-11.
  • Hooker was the other Owl in double figures on the night scoring 14.
  • Nick Masterson never left the floor tonight for Kennesaw State and he led the team in assists with four. He also had eight points.
